As demostrated by the tall walls and Saint- Paul-de-Vence’ s cannon, the two towns of Ceresole d’Alba (IT) and Saint- Paul-de-Vence (FR) share a common story. These historical finds constitute the memory of the many conflicts happened during the Italian Wars, like the battle that happend in the town of Ceresole d’Alba in April 1544, won by Francis I.
The Museum “Il Museo della Battaglia” (muBATT) , that literally translate in The Battle’s Museum, in Ceresole d’Alba, has been made possible thanks to the collaboration between the two towns of Ceresole d’Alba and Saint- Paul-de-Vence within the European project “SuCCeSS”, funded by the INTERREG V ALCOTRA France - Italy 2014 - 2020 program.
The muBATT Museum, has been realized by redeveloping the Old Market area of Ceresole d’Alba; the museum will allow visitors to discover events and curiosities of one of the most important battle fought by foreign armies on Italian territory.
The battle took place on the 14th of April 1544 between the French army of Francis I and the army of the Imperials led by Charles V who fought each other to gain hegemony over the italian territory. About 30,000 soldiers took part to the battle that ended with the victory of the French army.
The aim of the visit is to highlight the close link between the territory of Ceresole d’Alba and its extraordinary history, full of vicissitudes. Among the rooms of the exhibition visitors will experience a journey through history and will discover the battle while admiring historical relics related to the battle, preserved preciously over the centuries.
